How to pin on a Boutonniere or Corsage

1. Hold the corsage/boutonniere by its stem, with the flower facing away from your date and toward you.

2. Place the corsage or boutonniere at a slight angle on your date’s lapel, approximately 4 inches in from the tip of the left shoulder.

3. Make sure that the flower is evenly placed on the lapel before attempting to pin it.

4. Take a strong and sturdy stickpin in the hand that is not holding the flower.

5. Stick the pin into the fabric at the bottom left corner of the stem.

6. Weave the pin back out from under the fabric. Push it through about 1 inch, laying it at an angle over the top of the stem.

7. Stick the tip of the pin back into the fabric on the other side of the stem. Insure that the stem is tightly in place with the length of the pin pushing it down.

8. Weave the pin back out of the fabric once more. Be sure that the very tip of the pin does not stick out, nor does it poke under the fabric and touch the skin.

9. Readjust the flower’s angle a bit after pinning, if necessary. You can re-fluff any petals that may have become matted during the pinning.

10. When sticking the pin into the fabric, use only the very tip and avoid digging too deeply downward. Steadiness is helpful.

Jennifer and Jonathan were married November 7th at Studio 450 in Manhattan. This space is just beautiful with such a nice view of the city.

It was an elegant, intimate wedding full of details that reflected the personalities of the bride and groom. Like this cool guestbook idea where guests took pictures and then glued them in the book with a message for the happy couple.

After the ceremony guests went upstairs for cocktail hour....

while downstairs was transformed for the reception. Everyone had a blast! Congratulations Jen & Jonathan!

Meghan & Benjamin are married!!

I had the pleasure of being there to be a part of Meghan & Ben's wedding on November 6th. They hired me a week before the wedding when the bride's mom found me online but I felt like I had known them for much longer. They are warm and amazing people and so easy to work with. I truly feel blessed for having met them. Congratulations Meghan & Ben! May your life together be filled with much happiness.

The ceremony was held at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. It was a simple ceremony chock full of love and beautiful emotions. I know I cried!

The reception was held at the Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture. Everyone had a great time.

Saving money on your wedding flowers

1. Don't hold your wedding during the month of February when flower prices go up because of Valentine's Day. Instead think of having your wedding during Easter or Christmas. The church will be already decorated for the holiday and you wont have to spend money on flowers for the church.

2. Consider having your wedding in a garden or park. The surroundings will already be beautiful eliminating the need for floral arrangements.

3. Ask your church or venue if they have another wedding booked for the same day as yours. You can talk to the other bride and see if you can coordinate your flowers and split the cost.

4. Consider ordering flowers from an online wholesaler and putting them together with your bridal party.

5. Use carnations for your centerpieces. When used in bulk they can be breathtaking and they are cheap.

Jessica & Lenin are married!

Jessica had her heart set on an outdoor ceremony in the garden but the whole week before the wedding it rained and rained and things didn't look good. So after much praying guess what? The wedding day was sunny and beautiful and Jessica had the outdoor ceremony she so wanted.

The bride hired a Peruvian flautist to play during the ceremony which was amazing and so beautiful!

The reception was beautifully decorated in fall colors. It was full of little details that the bride and her family went to alot of trouble to create. Like this beautiful seating chart

The cake was made by the brides mom Lucy. It was beautiful and delicious!

Especially touching was the bride's dance with her mom. You could just feel the love between them as they danced to "You Lift Me Up" by Josh Groban. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house. I know I cried!

Congratulations Jessica & Lenin! So happy your day turned out to be everything you wanted and that we were able to be a part of it!

Alot of brides have a hard time finding a way to honor loved ones that have passed because they don't want to dampen this joyous occasion with sad memories. But it doesn't have to be sad. Here are some simple, elegant and uplifting ways to honor those who are no longer with us.

Ways to save on your venue

Have your wedding on a Friday night, Sunday afternoon or in the off season Most facilities will offer significant discounts for booking on a Friday or Sunday. Some places will offer almost 25% off, or will lower minimums in certain rooms. They might even “throw in” special incentives to book those dates.

Consider having your reception in a restaurant. Most restaurants have private rooms for bigger events, which are often free of charge with a minimum number of meals/guests.

Find a venue that will let you bring in your own liquor. Then have beer, wine and one signature drink and this will slash your costs dramatically.

The fierce Dinosaur was trapped inside his cage of ice. Although it was cold he was happy in there. It was, after all, HIS cage.

Then along came the Lovely Other Dinosaur.

The Lovely Other Dinosaur melted the Dinosaur's cage with kind words and loving thoughts.

I like this Dionsaur, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur. Although he is fierce he is also tender and he is funny. He is also quite clever though I will not tell him this for now.

I like this Lovely Other Dinosaur, thought the Dinosaur. She is beautiful and she is different and she smells so nice. She is also a free spirit which is a quality I much admire in a dinosaur.

But he can be so distant and so peculiar at times, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur.

He is also overly fond of Things. Are all Dinosaurs so overly fond of Things?

But her mind skips from here to there so quickly, thought the Dinosaur. She is also uncommonly keen on Shopping. Are all Lovely Other Dinosaurs so uncommonly keen on shopping?

I will forgive his peculiarity and his concern for Things, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur. For they are part of what makes him a richly charactered individual.

I will forgive her skipping mind and her fondness for shopping, thought the Dinosaur. For she fills our life with beautiful thought and wonderful surprises. Besides, I am not unkeen on shopping either.

Now the Dinosaur and the Lovely Other Dinosaur are old. Look at them.

Together they stand on the hill telling each other stories and feeling the warmth of the sun on their backs.

And that, my frends, is how it is with love. Let us all be Dinosaurs and Lovely Other Dinosaurs together.

For the sun is warm. And the world is a beautiful place.

We had the best time working with this beautiful couple and their loving families. Their wedding was held on a beautiful late summer day at The Royal Manor in Garfield, NJ.
